How to make the perfect packing list? Let’s be honest, it is always hard to pack. With children, without them… it is a tedious chore. I love vacations, I love trips, I love everything that involves visiting an airport… packing? Not so much!
I have compiled a list to make it easier for you! The first time I flew with my son, he was only 9 months old. We were headed to Peru and our route involved 4 airports and 13hrs traveling. My biggest fear was to forget the silliest thing such as pacifier, a blanket, his favorite stuffed animal and (Just like every new mom), I was worried I wouldn’t have enough diapers!
As soon as I booked our flights, I started the chore of creating a packing list. Here is what I did: I grabbed a notepad and on each page I wrote down our routine.
- Morning Playtime
- Morning Snack
- Afternoon Playtime
- Afternoon Snack
- Evening Playtime
- Bath time
- Night time
On each page, I wrote each one of the items we needed. I started with: “Wake-up”, Clean clothes, diapers, baby wipes, hairbrush, soap, etc. “Breakfast” involved bottles, formula, cereal, spoons, bowls, bibs… I did the same for one whole day. I consolidated them in one page and worked up my packing list.
As you can see, it’s quite a process! And it was totally worth it! We didn’t forget anything Baby Related, now did I forget to bring my hairbrush and underwear? Yes, yes I did!! But in the age of “messy buns”, “mommy pants” and “mommy shoes”… I didn’t care! He had everything he needed and that was enough for me!
I have put together a couple of lists to get your started on your packing process. You can download them below:
