Here are my most used Apps to help you save money!
Who doesn’t love saving money? I do! Even more so when it is on purchases I would make any day and every day and with little effort on my part. Don’t worry! It doesn’t involve buying the newspaper, using scissors and multiple organizational skills to keep track of your coupons. Instead, all you need is your smartphone and answering “Yes!” whenever the cashier asks “Would you like your receipt?”
To make it easier, I have grouped all the “Cash Back” apps on my phone and it looks like this…
Let’s dig in!
Checkout 51 will give you cash back on different products, and extra bonuses for certain brands. New offers go live on Thursdays, so make sure to submit your receipts as soon as you purchase them and check at least once a week for new ones. When you reach a $20 balance, you have to request to cash out and they will mail you a check. It usually takes a week to receive it. My favorite thing about this app is that you can purchase most of the products at ANY store.
Ibotta has become probably my favorite apps, after downloading it and signing up you pick the rebates, take a picture of your receipt, scan the barcode of the product and voilá, you receive credit for the rebate amount to your account. The bonuses are truly rewarding, in fact, as I am typing this I received $8.50 for completing two bonuses when I bought yogurt earlier today. You can also team up with friends and get to those monthly bonuses quicker. And for a limited time, you will receive $5 for signing up and $5 for each friend you refer! Who said FREE MONEY?!! So hurry up and sign up for Ibotta, team up and start snapping those receipts.
If you shop at Walmart, you will want to download their app and start scanning your receipts on the Savings Catcher portion of it. They will compare prices for you and give you money back if any item was cheaper at any store close to you. After the request is processed (Usually takes 24 hours), if there were cheaper prices found, you will receive credit for the difference, that you can turn into a Walmart Gift Card to use at any of their stores or online.
ReceiptHog, it doesn’t get easier than this one. Take a picture of ALL your receipts, regardless of where they are from and you will be awarded coins. Once you reach a certain amount of coins, cash in for Amazon Gift Cards.
SavingStar just like most of the previous apps, you activate the offers you would like, snap a pic of your receipt and cash in. My favorite way to cash in is though Paypal. And you can cash out with as little as $5!
Shop at Home is great for online shopping and local deals. You can cash out at $20 and they will mail you a check.
Ebates is pretty similar to Shop at Home, they give you a percentage back for online purchases and local deals. I like to compare the percentages before clicking buy. You get paid quarterly in the form of a check, through Paypal or a Gift Card. My favorite feature about Ebates is that there is no “waiting” for your cash, with Paypal, you receive the funds the same day they send the money.
Finally, MileUp is an app I have mixed feelings about. The rewards used to be good, now it is mostly based on sweepstakes entries. I am not sure I will keep it installed… I will keep you posted on that!
Maximize your Savings!
Something to keep in mind… MobiSave, SavingStar, ReceiptHog, Walmart, Ibotta and Checkout 51 aren’t linked! So you can totally Double Dip on these offers! Yes! Let’s say… there is an offer for avocados on three of them… you purchase them at Walmart, redeem the offer on MobiSave, SavingStar, Ibotta and Checkout 51, then scan your receipt on Savings Catcher and take a picture for ReceiptHog and boom! You may have just gotten those avocados for FREE!
